U.S. Adds Private Sector Jobs for 12th Month
Today's ADP National Employment Report showed that the U.S. added 187,000 private sector jobs in January, the twelfth consecutive month of gains.
"Although more new jobs are needed to significantly reduce the unemployment rate, I am pleased to see continuing employment growth," commented Gary C. Butler, CEO of ADP.
The report showed that small businesses added 97,000 jobs, medium businesses added 79,000 jobs and large businesses added 11,000 jobs.
The service-providing sector added 166,000 jobs, the twelfth consecutive month of gains. The goods-producing sector added 21,000 jobs, the third consecutive monthly gain.
Joel Prakken, Chairman of Macroeconomic Advisers, said, "the recent pattern of rising employment gains since the middle of last year appears to be intact."
