A Little CES Teaser

The 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show is ready to kick off on Thursday, but analysts and press got a small taste of what is in store Tuesday at a meet and greet.

The CES unveiling brought together some of the leading names in tech to show off some of the year’s most highly anticipated new gadgets and there was no shortness of buzz around the few companies that gave a glimpse.

One popular concept at the unveiling was the several television media centers showed off by companies like D-Link and Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX).

D-Link is teaming up with the Boxee Company to bring a couple of products capable of turning any HDTV into an all-in-one media center.

The new Boxee Box will be capable of stream social networks, television shows, movies and more to HDTV through the use of wireless connectivity and HDMI technology. The Boxee Box will have a $199 price tag.

The Boxee Pebble will act as a home media center bring content from the users home theater to a single place on any HDTV with HDMI connection compatibility. The Pebble will not be wireless or capable of streaming content and will retail for $99.

Seagate brought its own media center that holds a cheaper price tag and a cheaper looking interface with it, but showed off a highly-anticipated USB 3.0 express kit, is currently retailing for $149 with an express card adapter and 500GB hard drive.

Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: MRVL) was another company to show a little of what it has in store for CES with its plug in go computer adapter, smartbook and e-reader technologies.

This unveiling was a simple appetizer for the buffet of new toy to come this weekend. Things will really get going tomorrow with Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmer giving the opening keynote speech of CES 2010.
