Home work! I would like everyone out their tonight to go home and take a nice a bath. During that bath I would like you to think about what you personally could do to make this world better tomorrow.
If you are having trouble with the first step just ask Warren Buffett as he turned around the mentality on Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) with just one little $5 billion investment.
Since today is Friday you now have the whole weekend to accomplish this task. One option that may come across your mind is to work harder at your current job you already have or maybe even find a new job, which would result in better long-term outcomes for yourself and others. People would be surprised on how you receiving a new job or higher payment may affect others down the pipeline.
Hiring personal, hiring a new employee may bring new ideas into the company even though they may come with some extra expenses. Offering a wage increase or bonus may inspire an existing worker to work harder for the company or may express new ideas that could better the company as a whole.
Another option that may work is donating your time to better someone else's life or your own. If everyone took the time to make their own lives better, others who may be handicapped, ill, or mentally incompetent may receive the help or aid that you are currently receiving, such as welfare, transportation, food stamps, or Bridge card.
If you are one of the hard working Americans who do not rely on others for help, which still is a larger portion of the U.S. and world, you could take your time to help someone else. I know this seems pathetic and that in this world it is "ever man for themselves" but maybe, just maybe it is that mentality that got us in the situation that we are presently in. Over the long run a little help now may prevent you from having to bail them out later in life, call it placing insurance on your long term assets or just long-term insurance.
The old saying that life isn't fair is true, but with President Obama trying his hardest to make it fair for the less fortunate maybe you should too. I mean if the idea is good enough for the president of the United States and one of the best investors in the world, what makes you to good for it.
I admit that I myself am not doing all that I can to better the world and can name a number of things daily that I could do to better the environment around me. While I am only one man, so is Mr. Buffet and look what a little bath did for him and the rest of the world.
While Congress has decided to soak for the last month now it has become quite clear to me that the people are the only ones who can make the change happen.
So to sum it up, go home, relax, take a nice bath or dip in the pool, but most importantly "think" what I can personally do to make my community around me better. I do not expect you to change the mentality of the world like Buffet or Obama is trying to do, just maybe a few people in your own community is all that it takes.
