Jobs Health Is Fine-NYTimes

July 23, 2008 8:19 AM EDT
There has been talk that Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) Steve Jobs is sick and/or the cancer he suffered from four years ago has returned. Today, the New York Times has a story that somewhat refutes that argument. This story surfaced after Steve Jobs gave a presentation where he looked quite skinny on stage. Apple said he just got over a common bug. However, on the recent earnings call, Apple took a new line and said, "Steve Jobs health is a private matter."

Which one is it? Three months, ago Apple execs answered the question about Steve's health and then this week it had no comment.

The Times reported that the rumors of Steve Jobs' heath have been greatly exaggerated. Time Times said this is what Jobs has been telling a number of associates. Mr. Jobs has reassured several people that he is doing well and that four years after a successful operation to treat a rare form of pancreatic cancer, he is cancer free.

People who are close to Steve say that he had a surgical procedure this year to address a problem that was contributing to a loss of weight. These people declined to be identified because Mr. Jobs had not authorized them to speak about his health.
