DIYNetwork.com Welcomes Featured Blogger Emily Winters of Merrypad.com
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Pegboard blog, DIYNetwork.com’s go-to online destination for tools, tips and innovative do-it-yourself project ideas, today welcomes Emily Winters, its newest featured blogger. Winters, who began her do-it-yourself and home décor blog Merrypad.com more than a year ago, is passionate about inspiring homeowners to embrace a DIY lifestyle. Every Thursday, visitors to The Pegboard can follow Winters as the self-described home improvement novice posts messages, photos and videos about how to tackle a variety of practical projects and home renovations. Her upcoming feature projects include how to create a Roman shade, rewire a kitchen, refinish a dresser and tile a bathroom floor.
“I’m passionate about living a customized lifestyle in which I create the items and rooms that suit me,” said Winters. “I understand how people can feel overwhelmed by attempting to do it themselves. I’m blogging for The Pegboard to take the fear out of DIY projects.”
Winters first gained attention by documenting an honest trial-and-error approach to completing projects for her home. Winters’ blog recently showcased her recreating expensive cardboard pendant lampshades for a fraction of the price, updating the laminate floor in her kitchen and making pillowcases.
“I’m interested in making my own little house the perfect space for me,” said Winters. “I’ll make over every room and item until I achieve the look I want.”
In her DIYNetwork.com Pegboard blog, Winters will cover such topics as how to repair a bowed floor and a warped doorway, how to make a mirror frame and the best way to refinish kitchen cabinets.
About Emily Winters:
Raised in Western New York, Emily Winters experienced the benefits of adopting a do-it-yourself lifestyle at an early age and says home improvement and design are in her blood. She watched her enthusiastic and driven parents renovate their own 100-year old farmhouse and property, making it customized and cozy. Inspired by modern architecture, reclaimed materials and the idea of saving a penny in the process, Winters is striving to do the same to her own home and inspire others along the way.
Winters is a true self-made DIY-er who likes to explore all facets of do-it-yourself projects. With a bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University and a professional background in advertising, Winters launched Merrypad.com in the fall of 2010 as way to break out of her day-to-day routine.
Winters resides in Rochester, N.Y., where she actively maintains her blog and loves to run laps in the backyard with her burly Bernese Mountain Dog, Cody.
