STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HARMAN International Industries (NYSE: HAR), the leading global audio and infotainment group, today released its Sustainability Report 2011, the company’s first report to share details of how it is embedding principles of sustainability across all aspects of its business.

HARMAN’s 2011 Sustainability Report outlines its vision for a sustainable future and describes strategies to further set the company apart as an industry leader. Highlights from the report include:
- Generating shareholder value and promoting safe sound enjoyment - HARMAN has achieved dramatic change over the past few years by focusing on continuous cost management and growth at both the top and bottom line. The company will continue its transformation with sustainability playing a key role in an enduring business model that harnesses the power of innovative audio technologies to improve the safe enjoyment of today’s connected lifestyle products.
- Innovating to improve environmental performance – HARMAN will continue to incorporate its sustainability vision into the design of its products and will implement energy reduction initiatives at three of its largest facilities. The company is setting new targets to reduce its energy use and greenhouse gas emissions beginning with its manufacturing footprint.
- Making sound investments in people and communities – Furthering its commitment to improving local communities, HARMAN will establish a dedicated fund to invest in community music education, events and infrastructure.
