NewComLink Names James Howicz General Counsel
Veteran of Dell Financial Services, Wells Fargo Financial and Discover Card brings 20+ years of legal expertise to NewComLink
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NewComLink, a technology pioneer in retail credit solutions, today announced it has appointed James Howicz as general counsel. Howicz, who most recently served as Executive Legal Director at Dell, brings deep expertise in the legal, compliance and regulatory issues surrounding retail credit. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing NewComLink legal matters, including patent, trademark and other corporate affairs. He will also advise the executive management team on corporate governance matters. Howicz will report to NewComLink CEO, Suneet Paul.

Howicz was most recently Executive Legal Director at Dell, where he led the Global Financial Services legal team and provided strategic legal advice to Global Payment Solutions, Dell Financial Services, Global Financial Services, Treasury and Corporate Finance Teams. He previously served as Assistant General Counsel for Dell Financial Services, where he spearheaded legal affairs to the $4.5 billion consumer and small business teams. Howicz earned the 2009 Dell Legal Excellence Award, and was twice selected as a leading Cross-Functional Contributor.

Prior to joining Dell in 2002, Howicz was Assistant General Counsel for Wells Fargo Financial where he provided legal oversight for state and national operations, and led legal operational issues for credit card and private label retail credit banks. He also served as Assistant Counsel at Discover Card, where he supported all aspects of business operation and oversaw corporate, banking, credit, contract, e-commerce and trademark law.
Howicz began his career as an attorney for CCH Incorporated and a senior attorney for Mercury Finance Company. He received a JD from Tulane and served as a clerk for the US Department of Justice before joining private practice.
