TokBox Opens Asia Pac Office

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/20/11 -- TokBox today announced the opening of its Asia Pacific office based in Sydney, Australia.

The expansion comes at the end of a stellar year for the company, which saw rapid growth since launching the OpenTok Face-to-Face platform. During 2011 OpenTok was used by more than 23,000 corporations, charities and bloggers, including American Idol, Atlantic Records, drugfree.org and Causes.com. The platform powered a range of new services, from video-voice mail through to the largest ever Facebook video chat.

Asia Pacific has been a major growth region for TokBox, with a number of partners and developers in the area. TokBox announced a partnership with SingTel, one of Asia's largest operators, and is used by a number of other organizations including SoreBums.com.au (Australia), A-Play (Thailand), Ellitute (Asia-wide) and English Academy of Medicine (Japan).

The new office, the first for the company outside San Francisco, will initially focus on engineering and product development, leveraging the growing developer community within Australia and the Asia Pacific region. It will also assist with the provision of round the clock support for TokBox's partners. The office will be headed by Adam Ullman, currently Engineering Manager at TokBox San Francisco, who has relocated for the role, with three engineers.
