Senior Security Researcher to Examine Evolving Mobile Threat Landscape, Highlighting Most Common Mobile Application Security Flaws

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Veracode, Inc., provider of the world’s only independent cloud-based application risk management platform, today announced that Senior Security Researcher Tyler Shields will be presenting at The Android Developer Conference (AnDevCon), taking place November 6-9, 2011 in Burlingame, Calif. In the session entitled, “Avoid The Pandora Pitfall: Secure Coding Practices for Mobile App Privacy,” Shields will examine the mobile security threat landscape and identify the most common security flaws related to mobile application development.

What:		With the pervasive and frequent nature of software vulnerabilities, it is important to understand and learn from the past as technology advances. Mobile application development is yet another technological advancement that must be accounted for in our secure coding methodologies. With a different and evolving threat landscape and new, mobile-specific privacy concerns, understanding what common mobile security flaws look like and how they differ from traditional programming vulnerabilities is imperative if we are to avoid repeating our failures of the past.
		This session will outline the mobile security threat landscape and identify the most common security flaws related to mobile development by examining real-world case studies where applications and operating systems have erred in the past. Shields will also address mobile privacy by analyzing the implications of privacy-related security flaws and the results of previous mistakes made.
